0EPIC Youth presents COMMitted to UNITY | Brothers and Sisters in the Hood with AMAZING SPEAKER 1 and AMAZING SPEAKER 2!!!
Join us for a night about community and brotherhood/sisterhood! The topic of unity is crucial to every Muslim community that exists. This is a known fact, however most communities nowadays (and the entire Muslim Ummah in general) are disunited due to differences in ethnicity, race, culture, religious differences, etc.
We fail to realize that it is okay to have differences with one another, but we should not let these differences split us apart, jeopardizing our brotherhood and unity, the basic building block of the Ummah since the time of the Messenger (PBUH). How do we revive the unity in our Muslim communities and in our Ummah? How do we deal with each others’ differences?
Find out as our two outstanding speakers will give us insight about these issues that we all deal with in our families and communities. This event is open to all youth and adults!

Culture vs. Religion | Imam Nadim and Imam Yaseen
0EPIC Youth presents Culture vs. Religion with IMAM NADIM BASHIR and IMAM YASEEN SHAIKH!!!
Join us for a night about culture and religion! We all come from a certain culture, a certain tradition, a specific background and heritage. We love to identify with our own culture and traditions. This is perfectly fine, except many times this conflicts with what is more important, religion.
Many cultural practices may be considered wrong or unfavorable according to Islam, yet we continue to do them due to pressure from our families and society. What is even the difference between culture and Islam? How do we achieve a balance between both? How do we know if a certain cultural practice is right according to our deen? If we are engaging in many unIslamic cultural actions, how do we stop ourselves and our families from continuing them and get on the right path?!
Find out as our two outstanding speakers will give us insight about these issues that we all deal with in our lives. This event is open to all youth and adults!
Some examples/questions that will be discussed: Celebrating birthdays, having extravagant weddings, dress/attire, language, entertainment, and many more!!!
*The date was originally April 28th but has now been changed to May 4th, so please do not get confused!!

EPIC Youth Updates

First, we hope that y’all enjoyed our major event in February last Friday, How to Love | Love and Dating in Islam. I think it was successful and very beneficial because we had a big crowd and both talks by the speakers were amazing Mashallah! Thanks to all the volunteers and anyone who helped to make the event possible. Secondly, I wanna remind y’all about our upcoming events. The next upcoming volunteer opportunity at the North Texas Food Bank is this coming Saturday! Last time it was really fun doing something good and useful on a Saturday morning with friends! We also have a sisters-only event coming up on Sunday, February 26, which you can check out below. Lastly, don’t forget to join us every Friday night after Isha for the Brothers and Sisters youth halaqas!

First we hope that y’all enjoyed our major event in January, Family Feud. We would also like to thank everyone who attended our volunteer opportunity at the North Texas Food Bank last weekend. Alhamdulillah it was really fun doing something good and useful on a Saturday morning! All praise and thanks are to Allah for the success of these events, and secondly thanks to all the volunteers and anyone who helped make these events possible!
We also organized a t-shirt design contest last week. Many designs have been submitted and now it’s time for you to vote! Apply for EPIC Youth Committee Now!

Applications for the EPIC Youth Committee are now available at http://www.epic-youth.org/apply/. The primary position we are looking to fill is the Sisters’ Chair (3 co-positions available) because we would like to get the sisters involved in the youth group at EPIC. So please let anyone who you think might be interested in applying know about this. Also, please remember that the deadline to submit applications is Sunday, September 18.
We are also resuming our brothers’ weekly Friday youth halaqas at EPIC tonight after Maghrib Inshallah! For more details and information about these weekly discussions, please visit http://www.epic-youth.org/events/weekly/.
